Active Vision Clubs

Bradbury Fields' weekday Active Vision Clubs always have something different going on, from cookery to gardening, craft to games - or just meeting friends.

They offer a secure, understanding and friendly environment for people with a visual impairment.

The clubs run daily from Monday to Thursday, hosting up to 40 people per day between 10am and 2pm. Transport is provided for those people who need it, and there's also the option of a hot or cold meal prepared daily in the bistro.

All activities are designed specifically for people with a visual impairment: quizzes that get your mind into shape, exercise that gets your body in shape, plus entertainment such as singers and musicians, talks from local historians - even dancing!

Other services available include:

  • Hairdressing

  • Chiropody

  • Beautician

All of our staff and volunteers attend a visual awareness training course before starting work with us. They're trained to offer support and encouragement, plus understanding of the anxieties new members may feel when trying something new. Many of our volunteers are visually impaired themselves.

Our club members say they couldn't put a price on the health benefits (not to mention enjoyment!) they get from meeting like-minded people regularly, as well as sharing tips and suggestions between themselves.
